Empower Therapy and Wellness also offers Christian counseling to those who want to approach mental health therapy with a faith-based approach; however, anyone is welcome and can forgo a faith-based approach if desired. Christian Counseling
Jenny Currie, the founder of Empower Therapy and Wellness, LLC, believes that Christ is ultimately the Great Counselor and Great Healer who wants to give each person an abundant life. Empower, of course, is open to anyone seeking help and accepts each person where he or she is at in the journey. Jenny believes that all truth is God's truth, and so, while not everyone may want to incorporate Christian counseling, she believes that grace, love, and truth are still powerful in anyone's healing. For those who want a Christian approach, prayer and Scripture are woven into the fabric of therapy.

Trauma & PTSD
Trauma is more a part of life than we may realize. Trauma does not have to mean you were horrifically abused or witnessed death. it does not have to mean you went to war. Trauma is personal and individual. It can occur from seemingly small or embarrassing moments, but those moments may have long-lasting and debilitating impacts for years to come.Trauma is more a part of life than we may realize. Stevanie Brown
LISW
Stevanie understands that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in a positive therapeutic experience. She believes that psychotherapy is just as much a place to laugh, reflect, and celebrate growth as it is a place to grieve, process challenges, and sit with discomfort. Her approach is collaborative and non-hierarchical—clients are the experts on their own lives, and her role is to walk beside them with curiosity, compassion, and clinical insight. She helps children, teens, and young adults—as well as their families—navigate the often confusing and overwhelming worlds of school, relationships, and self-understanding.
Her specialty is working with neurodivergent clients, especially those with ADHD and Autism. She brings a neurodiversity-affirming approach to her work, meaning she focuses on supporting clients in understanding and honoring their brains—not fixing them. This often includes building self-advocacy skills and improving executive functioning strategies.
In all of her work, she aims to create a space that is respectful, playful, warm, and deeply attuned. Therapy with her is never one-size-fits-all. It is responsive, strengths-based, and grounded in mutual respect.

Dr. Courtney Farrell
LISW-S & LICDC
Dr. Courtney Cotter is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervision designation (LISW-S) and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC). She received her Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Kentucky with a focus on adolescent substance use. She also holds a BSW from Taylor University and an MSW from The Ohio State University, where she concentrated in mental health and substance use treatment.
With clinical experience serving adolescents, adults, and families facing complex mental health challenges and substance use disorders, Dr. Cotter is passionate about providing intensive, compassionate, and evidence-based care. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the joint MSW program at Goshen College and Bluffton University, where she teaches and develops clinical coursework to prepare the next generation of social workers.
Her professional work is grounded in a deep commitment to reducing stigma surrounding mental health and substance use and advancing compassionate, evidence-based care.
